How we help

The CEMEX Community Fund is a not for profit organisation which is funded by landfill tax credits and donations from CEMEX UK. The Fund is run independently and supports projects which improve local community facilities and places of interest near CEMEX operations across the country.

In total, the fund has, since its establishment in 2004, awarded more than £840,000 towards community projects. There are two application rounds per year, when grants ranging from £1,000 to £15,000 are awarded to projects that:

  1. Improve or enhance the social, built or natural environment, public space, facility or building for leisure or entertainment
  2. Improve or enhance buildings or structures of religious, historical or architectural interest.

The CEMEX Community Fund is run by a Board which is separate from CEMEX and operates under the Landfill Communities Fund. It is funded by a tax on the disposal of waste and regulated by Entrust, which regulates the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs. For more information, see www.entrust.org.uk/home/lcf To qualify for funding, applying organisations must comply with the Landfill Communities Fund regulatory requirements and responsibilities, which are also detailed on the Entrust website.

While many landfill operators require contributing third parties to make a 10% contribution for the proportion of any donation unrecoverable as a Landfill Tax Credit, CEMEX makes this contribution from its own resources, as part of its commitment to support local communities near its operations.
